# Welcome to Cronos ID

Cronos ID is the result of a need for communication and identity infrastructure on Cronos. In web3, users are identified by long and unintuitive address strings; Individuals rely on off-chain applications to communicate, which can be prone to exploits. With an increase in adoption of web3, there is a key need for safe and easy primitives that a mass audience can utilise.

We intend to launch an infrastructure layer that will be utilised by web3 adopters, aiming to bridge both CeFi and DeFi users within Cronos and the broader Defi Ecosystems.
